I have a painting ...

I had a young friend who's paintings always amazed me. Her parents house were full of her vibrant work, very reminiscent of Jan Vermeieren, an well known South African artist, whose work I also love.

When my dog, Johanna, disappeared in '97 all I had left from my dear dog, was a very bad photo. But Carla was able to make Johanna come back to life in this family study of us.

Where ever I have moved, it is one of the first items that I pack. And it always hang in a special place. Now it is hanging in my studio, where I can look at it everyday. I have over the years lost contact with Carla and her mom, but in a sense her spirit is still with me, looking over my shoulder at what ever I am doing, even now, watching me while I type this ...

Those colors are so alive! What a great combination of inspiration and memories in that painting. I think Carla would be pleased to know how much her painting of you and Johanna means to you :)

Hi Dee, I too think your friend Carla would be pleased that you love her painting so much. It is quite a vibrant work indeed. Hope all is well with you.

Hi Ange an Elaine!
It is one of those things that I really want to grow old with, lol!

Elaine, I am good! Just fetched some ceramics that will need to be bonded with my beads, and hopefully some sales tomorrow ... and I am waiting for a student to arrive. Yea, I have gone down that foolish road, and said yes to be teacher again ;-) I got some referrals from our local supplier, and the one woman was so excited about Lampwork, she could not wait another week. I was still preparing class notes till the wee hours of the night last night.

Everyone, have a wonderous weekend!
